What is Accelerated Reader?
Accelerated Reader is a computer management reading program. Students at all grade levels read books at their reading level then take tests on the books. The tests measure comprehension, sight word vocabulary and other reading skills. It is very important for students to maintain an appropriate average on their tests while working toward their point goal.
Accelerated Reader Incentive Program 2008-2009
Students work hard in reading to meet their percentage and point goals. The percentage correct goal for each student is 80-85% in accordance with county and school guidelines. Each teacher sets an individual goal for level and points for each student. The media specialist and media clerk support the incentive programs. This is funded by book fairs.
